Perimeter surveillance for sensitive
installations
Easat has designed and built sensors
and antenna systems for purpose-designed perimeter surveillance
installations. An example is illustrated below. This involved the
design and manufacture, in a very short time period, of a short-range
surveillance radar sensor for the security protection of a sensitive
naval shore facility.
The sensor is low cost, but is capable of detecting
very small sea surface targets such as submarine periscopes
and surface craft such as canoes, inflatable rigid boats or
even some swimmers. The sensor is based on readily available
radar transmitter receivers operating in the 9.0 to 10 GHz
band, together with a compact high gain low sidelobe antenna
of 1.1 metre aperture. The antenna is equipped with polarisation
control, to optimise radar detection performance in both clear
weather, and in heavy rain.
